entertainment

think i’m going in the water again, maybe this time i’ll just float along.

wow, quite a bit to write about!

firstly, the golden compass. we saw it on saturday. now, as a film on its own it was fairly decent. definitely rushed and confusing for those who haven’t read the book, but it was a decent film. lots of big stars in the film too, i guess that’s a good thing? i don’t know. anyway, to those who have read the book: it is the biggest letdown of the year. it barely follows the book, with things changed (they say the alethiometers were destroyed, but in the book there are about 4). i was sat there going “what?” a lot since it didn’t follow the book, which it should have done since the book is about a million times better. that said, we had fun in the cinema anyway.

saturday we went to newcastle, and i saw leigh. we walked around, got wet, looked around the shops, drank hot chocolate, got a free hot chocolate, went to the cinema, had fun in the cinema, lost glasses in the cinema and so on. i had a great time.

speaking of films, there is a chance that there might be a pocoyo movie! to those who don’t know, pocoyo is a little kids tv show, shown on CITV. it’s awesome. anyway, reading through stuff on the wikipedia article, it mentions this:
Two series have been produced, each consisting of 52 seven-minute episodes. A future third series is on hold as the makers wish to embark upon other projects, one of which may be a Pocoyo movie.
a pocoyo movie! how awesome would that be? oh i’m excited already. but i’ll keep it under control, i know what happens when i get excited about a movie.

how big are battles now? i heard “atlas” on TOP GEAR last night. top gear! i never expected to hear battles on top gear, but they’ve also made appearences on jools holland and are featured in the guardians top 20 albums of 2007.

big up to the boro, who beat arsenal 2 - 1 yesterday. unbelievable. we played brilliantly and would have got it 2-0 if it weren’t for arsenal’s final goal in the 95th minute.

and in one week i’ve racked up nearly 2,000 views. that’s pretty cool. thought i’d mention it. also, i did this, it’s quite cool:

D:

okay, maybe not quite a bit to write about.

dearest citizens of the fallen/falling world…

well, a few things to note.

firstly, the golden compass is out today in the UK. the film i have anticipated for years and years since i first read northern lights, it’s finally out! i can’t wait to go see it. has anyone seen it yet? bastards.

ps:

okay, i’m going to say this once, and once only. i like the new killers single. yes, i know i know. it’s the killers. but it’s lou reed! their new single “tranquilize” is fantastic. it’s quirky and dark and nothing like the killers other stuff. it sounds fairly velvet underground-esque (but no where near as good obviously), and it’s really good. their voices go together really well. as much as i dislike the killers (i used to be a fan) this is worth a listen. there.

well, stats are back! haha, now i can see who’s looking at me… i used to obsess over them, so i’m quite happy. i doubt it’ll do as well as my other blog (like, 650 views a day) but i can always hope! it’s racked up 200 in the first day of recording stats so…

so me and a few friends have joined up to this site called LittleGolem.net. it allows you to play board games online. not in real time. so you just log on and play whenever you get the chance. it’s pretty cool! lemme know your usernames, and invite me to a game of chess or something. my user name is dicko and i have not played long.

anyway, i’m so behind on work, and i still haven’t finished my personal statement (due in last month) so i’m off, ta ta!

black and white.

well, let’s have a look.

most of last week i was ill, like, really ill. so ill i wasn’t in for most of the college week. what is it? really bad flu. yeah, i’m a whiny bitch but i don’t care. haha.

however, saturday i made it to go see leigh. i had to share the train up with my cousin going to see his girlfriend. it was alright though, entertaining at least. we also got the train cheaper too, as we got a duo ticket. that was quite good. anyway, we got to sunderland, and went to leigh’s house for the usual. it was all rather good, and we ate bagels. we also watched (some of) spirited away(distractions haha). it was bloody good. anyway, we eventually went to pick her sister up from work, and the plan was to stay in sunderland so i could catch my train. but it was bloody cold so we went back to leigh’s for an hour, snug in her bed. it was lovely. i went to catch the bus back to sunderland, but there was a crash. so the bus was majorly delayed. and i was going to miss my train.

so the panic began. we rushed back to her house but her parents had had a drink. so we rang up other people with no luck. i couldn’t get in touch with my cousin as his phone battery was dead, so we had to text like 3 people just to get his girlfriends number to phone her to get in touch with him. yeah. in the end, i got a lift to the next stop and made it on the train. just in time! so that was all fun. when we finally got back in redcar, it rained. hard. we got soaking wet on the way home, but i wasn’t allowed to call a taxi. that was pretty gay.

anyway, i had a really great day.

coming soon is the GOLDEN COMPASS. you cannot BELIEVE how much i need to see this film. i’ve been dying for it since i read the book (northern lights) about 5 years ago. we’re going to see it on saturday at newcastle, it’s going to be amazing. or it better be.

i also watched howl’s moving castle over the weekend. studio ghibli films are always brilliant, but this one was the best i’ve seen so far i think.

defined as “art”.

so today is when GUITAR HERO 3 is out. finally. i am going to go to my friends and play the fuck out of it. although he can barely do hard mode so it’ll be a bit of a drag to get him up to speed. but yes, we’re going to play co-op mode i am very excited!

in other news: i am seeing leigh tomorrow. i am more excited about this than anything! although she’s going to see mcfly (don’t ask) tomorrow too. never mind. i found this across the internet somewhere, so enjoy.  it makes me laugh everytime i see it.

punk dance

speaking of which, the mighty boosh last night was EXCELLENT. it really was. although the first episode was a bit off, last night’s episode was absolutely hysterical. my hope in the mighty boosh has been restored! the next episode looks great too. never mind the buzzcocks was pretty good last night as well, not as good as last weeks but still pretty good.

one day i’ll review tv shows.

here i lie in wait for the end. or was it the bend?

well, not much to report on today really.

i’m definitely going to london on 20th of july. for a few days. that’s going to be hella awesome.

i need to speak to dom urgently about arrangements. if you see this dom, get in touch with me! i have a new phone number, ask mike or some other brit for it and text me or something.

yes, blogs to leave a message, excellent idea.

now, let’s talk about myspace. and how much of a bag of shit it is. really. creating a myspace page is essentially signing your life away to the devil; but not in that sense. no, it’s not addicting (though for some whelps it is), it’s just… UGH. you know, you put a picture of yourself up. great. then you look at other peoples pictures. and they think they’re models and edit their pictures. why? why can’t you put a picture up of yourself, naturally? don’t give me this bullshit about feeling better about yourself or making yourself look better, because if you were so insecure in the first place you wouldn’t put the picture up!  no, they do it for the attention. and why do you take them from such stupid angles people? always looking down. you do realise that that position represents a demeaning value to that person right? so by doing that, AND editing it, you’ve just fucked your image well and truly.

or at least i like to think so. sorry, i just don’t like people who LIVE on myspace and constantly edit all their pictures. please, show your natural self once in a while.

going through a door sideways.

okay, so on 7th and 8th july, i will be in birmingham again. firstly, to see bright eyes with henrietta. secondly, to spend time with henrietta. and dom, of course. yes, dom said it was alright to stay at his house on BOTH those days (what a great guy) so i’m all set! next up is money.

sorry for that post yesterday, everything was really getting to me. everything has been alright so far, i’ve been talking to hen a bit and i’ve managed to get sorted. but today is the major deadline, everything has to be in today, or else. and i’m working hard to finish everything off. i’ll have to come in next week of course, just to touch everything up, but if i can get the bulk of it done today, i should be alright. wish me luck!

there are some great new releases out so far, then some not so great leaks. like the new portugal. the man. its not that great. the new pornographers, and the few new tracks from animal collective’s album are great also. there’s also new iron & wine which is great, new minus the bear which i haven’t heard yet, new hell is for heroes (haven’t heard), and much much more. god i can’t wait to get home to get this. i miss the internet :(.

show affection at your own discretion.

so um, this weekend was certainly interesting.

firstly, the worst part was that i’ve been completely down because of college and what’ll happen to me. i’m practically shitting myself in case i fail. thanks to henrietta for being there for me and looking after me. she’s been there for me throughout the weekend, no matter how shit i get. and i have been awful. right now i’m shitting myself that she’ll leave me, but then again what’s new?

saturday was pretty fun actually. it was the engagement party of my cousin, and all the family was there. some of which i hadn’t seen in years, such as my aunt joan and uncle mark and stuff. it was nice. everyone kept buying me drinks so i had about 11 and a half pints of lager amongst other stuff. so i did get quite a bit drunk!

next day i woke up feeling sick, and got dragged out to damo’s and then we played the game they made, based on WoW. it was pretty nifty, but it needed tweaking. then i had TWO barbeques to go to. that’s right, my aunt joan invited me there because they missed me or something. so off i went, feeling sick and the like, to there. i told her about henrietta, and she is the only member of my family who knows we’re going out. i think that’s pretty funny, neither of our families know the other exists (apart from her grandma who thinks we’re “very close friends”), but don’t go telling anyone! anyways, i also had my auntie beverly’s barbeque which i sat and drank cider. felt better afterwards actually. after that i phoned hen (after spending £15 on the phone) and for some reason it lasted like 5 hours. i enjoyed it, she tried to wax and failed, and got really scared bless her.

today’s shout out goes to mike (i love you mike robinson)

grotesque, copious profanity, and why putting a cuckoo in your clock will not help you get a job.

today i got a hate article about me! well, not so much hate as DO NOT FUCKING POST IN MY BLOG YOU CUNT.

Link:  http://ahseow.wordpress.com/2007/06/07/i-repeat/

personally, i think this guys reaction is hilarious. he posted a joke which i thought was quite funny, so i posted a comment saying so. then i get this. i just love the vain attempts at insulting me as well. YOUR EMAIL IS GROSS. I AM NOT INTERESTED IF YOU ARE HOMO etc. sure, i respect if he doesn’t want me to comment his blog or whatever (that was the only time i’d look at the blog anyway), but way to build a fucking tower to touch the sky.

i won’t be able to phone hen tonight, that pisses me off.

college is nearly over! i’ve nearly finished all my work, and i can’t fucking wait. i’m sat here listening to an old love of mine (in the back seat - the arcade fire) and i can’t wait to be back in birmingham. this summer will be so hectic. i have a britmeet to go to (lots of online friends are meeting in london to play games and drink lots and have a barbeque) as well as a two week long party which will absolutely kill me. hen is coming down for a week and i hope to go there for a few days too. i need a fucking job and money fast. but first i need my internet back. and i am still ill.

congrats on this blog getting over 3,000 views! i feel so special.

all hate posts welcomed. be sure to link to my blog, put my name and email, make snide comments about me and don’t forget to tell me where to go!

also i am going to do a shoutout to a different person each post. today’s shout out goes to henrietta.

when standing on the shoulders of giants, it’s best not to look down.

wow, what a suprise, i’m ill again! you know, i’m seriously considering i have aids. damn you dom :(

today when walking to college i spotted a rare sight in the middle of the grass. i saw a sega master system and a mega drive just laying there. i was so tempted to pick them up and see if they worked, but i decided against it. but bloody hell it was a rare sight and it brightened up my day! i also saw a really old man with the most perfect poodle ever (and by perfect i mean completely pampered and manicured and hair cut to perfection etc., i can’t stand poodles) and it was just a really funny sight. sort of leads me to wonder what was up with him however… (matty suggested paedophile).

today was quite boring, however i passed IT! yes, i finally have a key skills IT certificate. not like it was hard or anything. it was simply gcse level. so boring. one thing i hate about this college is they treat you like drooling babies when it comes to stuff like this, mainly because alot of the people who come here are actually drooling adults who have been out of learning for a long time. why rub that off on us though? we’re young, not long left school, quite bright. oh, bob (the teacher) said i was INCREDIBLY IMAGINATIVE, something to put on my CV i guess :D.

i miss henrietta so much. she wrote a lovely post about me. its lovely.

the past couple of days i’ve been trying to decide what is ultimately my all time favourite band. for the longest time it was radiohead, but i sort of got bored, then it went to the unicorns, but i haven’t heard much of them lately. so i’m guessing it’s stars right now, since heart has been on my playlist for too long. though 65daysofstatic come really close.

hopefully i’ll have my home internet back soon! god i can’t wait.

how did i ever forget about this album.

i hate to admit this (and i know a certain young girl who will absolutely kick my arse for this) but today for the first time in nearly a year i listened to the arcade fire - funeral. it was completely fresh again and god it brought back memories. since i’ve been focusing on the new album alot i completely forgot about their best (imo anyway) and forgot just how energetic and strong it is. i’ve been looking for energetic indie lately since my collection is getting a bit old or something, but completely forgot about this. it’s a fantastic album, best tracks being rebellion (lies) and power out (i think so anyway).

wow, first music only post in a while.
