December 2007

people won’t be people when they hear this sound.

wow, so like. hmm. i’m a bit in shock.

kelvin is using his mum’s iPod shuffle to store files. which is fair enough. only we found porn on it. not just any porn. oh no. bizarre and weird porn. feet in… vaginas, men with 3 penises (WHY? it looked like it had meaty wings) etc. not only that i had a lovely conversation with some girls about men cutting bits of themselves off. it’s been an interesting day.

also, i can take 28 five year olds in a fight. possibly the best survey ever. since i’m lazy you’ll have to google “how many five year olds could you take in a fight”. it had me rolling with tears.

i need sites to pass the time.

i’m not scared anymore.

well, a few things. mostly talking about what happened yesterday.

yesterday was the two month anniversary of me and leigh. only i couldn’t phone her, but i got the best text ever from her, actually made my day amazing.

whilst out yesterday, i came across a lovely man windboarding. i took some pictures (which i used for a sf0 task), here he is in all his glory. he was a really nice bloke as well, told me all about it and how it keeps him fit and stuff. he also allowed me to take pictures!
windsurf

anyway, what else happened on thursday? well, my time.space.repeat cd FINALLY came! TSR are a band that i’ve befriended from DiS, and i must say they are very talented. sort of post-rock, so far they’ve released an ep and an album. they’re very good! i’ve listened through the album a few times (favourite track probably being “blue skies”) and the ep lots (i love “end of the world”). i hope they make it big! i recommend you go listen to them, i think their album is on their myspace for your listening pleasure. definitely for fans of the likes of gregor samsa.

i finally finished my university work! i’ve been fretting over it for a while now, but it’s finally done. i just hope i bloody pass! i celebrated in style (in the form of 10 malborough reds, i thought it was a special occasion and i haven’t smoked much recently) and now i feel great. and i get to see leigh tomorrow so huzzah! life is good! (i bet you weren’t expecting that from a teenager’s blog eh?) (why am i bracketing things lots in this post? i don’t know).

i should be your four leaf clover.

hmm.

okay, so whats new? well i signed up to this amazing site called sf0. basically, you create a fictional avatar, usually yourself, and go about doing tasks on the site. only, it works a bit differently. you do the tasks in real life, then submit evidence for completion of the site. there’s some great tasks to do, right now i’m going to do one in which you have to stand on a street corner and wait for something fantastic to happen. i love it. so far i’ve done two tasks, one being the initial “upload a picture of your avatar” and another in which i had to create a spoem. i’ve recieved 3 votes which is awesome! my username is Dicko if you’re on it.

other then that, nothing much has happened recently. i’ve cut my thumb, we found hentai pictures in the college toilets and nothing else has really happened. boring eh?

think i’m going in the water again, maybe this time i’ll just float along.

wow, quite a bit to write about!

firstly, the golden compass. we saw it on saturday. now, as a film on its own it was fairly decent. definitely rushed and confusing for those who haven’t read the book, but it was a decent film. lots of big stars in the film too, i guess that’s a good thing? i don’t know. anyway, to those who have read the book: it is the biggest letdown of the year. it barely follows the book, with things changed (they say the alethiometers were destroyed, but in the book there are about 4). i was sat there going “what?” a lot since it didn’t follow the book, which it should have done since the book is about a million times better. that said, we had fun in the cinema anyway.

saturday we went to newcastle, and i saw leigh. we walked around, got wet, looked around the shops, drank hot chocolate, got a free hot chocolate, went to the cinema, had fun in the cinema, lost glasses in the cinema and so on. i had a great time.

speaking of films, there is a chance that there might be a pocoyo movie! to those who don’t know, pocoyo is a little kids tv show, shown on CITV. it’s awesome. anyway, reading through stuff on the wikipedia article, it mentions this:
Two series have been produced, each consisting of 52 seven-minute episodes. A future third series is on hold as the makers wish to embark upon other projects, one of which may be a Pocoyo movie.
a pocoyo movie! how awesome would that be? oh i’m excited already. but i’ll keep it under control, i know what happens when i get excited about a movie.

how big are battles now? i heard “atlas” on TOP GEAR last night. top gear! i never expected to hear battles on top gear, but they’ve also made appearences on jools holland and are featured in the guardians top 20 albums of 2007.

big up to the boro, who beat arsenal 2 - 1 yesterday. unbelievable. we played brilliantly and would have got it 2-0 if it weren’t for arsenal’s final goal in the 95th minute.

and in one week i’ve racked up nearly 2,000 views. that’s pretty cool. thought i’d mention it. also, i did this, it’s quite cool:

D:

okay, maybe not quite a bit to write about.

silently reflection turns my world to stone.

well, this is it. crunch time. in about 15 seconds i have to do a presentation on what i’ve learned in 3d modelling this year. which isn’t much. and in a week, my whole university work has to be handed in. i haven’t started it. but don’t worry, it’ll get done. the thing is, this year has been so dull. absolutely. there’s been nothing but writing essays and reports, doing research for nothing, and practical work is currently unheard of. apart from sound for games where we occasionally make a bit of music, but then we have to write a report on what we did anyway. i just hope university isn’t this bad.

i have approximately £13 spare for tomorrow (after travel costs). i hope that’s enough. suddenly i’m not so excited to see the golden compass anymore. i’ve read a few comments at drowned in sound and they all say its badly done.  and i hope i get my money next week. ugh this week has been so bad.

i’ll stop moaning. now, music. over at theguardian.co.uk, they’ve compiled their top 20 albums of 2007. it’s a decent list, featuring the arcade fire, battles, lcd soundsystem etc., but very inaccurate. so i’ve decided i’m going to do my own tonight. and i’ll post it tomorrow. unless an album comes out in the next 24 days. then i’ll be buggered. anyway, i read the guardian. it’s a well-written newspaper, and the photography is always stunning. the website is pretty good as well, always a good read.

my friend has come up with an idea of a site where you post things you hate. he’s calling it nojustno.com. look out for it.

dearest citizens of the fallen/falling world…

well, a few things to note.

firstly, the golden compass is out today in the UK. the film i have anticipated for years and years since i first read northern lights, it’s finally out! i can’t wait to go see it. has anyone seen it yet? bastards.

ps:

okay, i’m going to say this once, and once only. i like the new killers single. yes, i know i know. it’s the killers. but it’s lou reed! their new single “tranquilize” is fantastic. it’s quirky and dark and nothing like the killers other stuff. it sounds fairly velvet underground-esque (but no where near as good obviously), and it’s really good. their voices go together really well. as much as i dislike the killers (i used to be a fan) this is worth a listen. there.

well, stats are back! haha, now i can see who’s looking at me… i used to obsess over them, so i’m quite happy. i doubt it’ll do as well as my other blog (like, 650 views a day) but i can always hope! it’s racked up 200 in the first day of recording stats so…

so me and a few friends have joined up to this site called LittleGolem.net. it allows you to play board games online. not in real time. so you just log on and play whenever you get the chance. it’s pretty cool! lemme know your usernames, and invite me to a game of chess or something. my user name is dicko and i have not played long.

anyway, i’m so behind on work, and i still haven’t finished my personal statement (due in last month) so i’m off, ta ta!

black and white.

well, let’s have a look.

most of last week i was ill, like, really ill. so ill i wasn’t in for most of the college week. what is it? really bad flu. yeah, i’m a whiny bitch but i don’t care. haha.

however, saturday i made it to go see leigh. i had to share the train up with my cousin going to see his girlfriend. it was alright though, entertaining at least. we also got the train cheaper too, as we got a duo ticket. that was quite good. anyway, we got to sunderland, and went to leigh’s house for the usual. it was all rather good, and we ate bagels. we also watched (some of) spirited away(distractions haha). it was bloody good. anyway, we eventually went to pick her sister up from work, and the plan was to stay in sunderland so i could catch my train. but it was bloody cold so we went back to leigh’s for an hour, snug in her bed. it was lovely. i went to catch the bus back to sunderland, but there was a crash. so the bus was majorly delayed. and i was going to miss my train.

so the panic began. we rushed back to her house but her parents had had a drink. so we rang up other people with no luck. i couldn’t get in touch with my cousin as his phone battery was dead, so we had to text like 3 people just to get his girlfriends number to phone her to get in touch with him. yeah. in the end, i got a lift to the next stop and made it on the train. just in time! so that was all fun. when we finally got back in redcar, it rained. hard. we got soaking wet on the way home, but i wasn’t allowed to call a taxi. that was pretty gay.

anyway, i had a really great day.

coming soon is the GOLDEN COMPASS. you cannot BELIEVE how much i need to see this film. i’ve been dying for it since i read the book (northern lights) about 5 years ago. we’re going to see it on saturday at newcastle, it’s going to be amazing. or it better be.

i also watched howl’s moving castle over the weekend. studio ghibli films are always brilliant, but this one was the best i’ve seen so far i think.
